Lizzano in Belvedere is the ideal retreat for those looking to unwind and immerse themselves in the unspoilt nature of the Bolognese Apennines. This resort offers the perfect blend of relaxation and outdoor activities all year round, thanks in particular to its proximity to the Corno alle Scale Regional Park. With peaks reaching almost 2,000 metres, the park is the beating heart of the area, home to a ski resort in winter and a dense network of trails for hiking and mountain biking in summer.
Among the scenic highlights are the Dardagna Waterfalls, famous for their seven spectacular drops, and the trails leading to Lake Cavone, Lake Scaffaiolo and Mount Pizzo, the latter much loved by paragliding enthusiasts.
The history of Lizzano, meanwhile, is encapsulated in the Delùbro, a small pre-Romanesque temple with Eastern influences that holds the distinction of being the oldest intact monument in the province of Bologna. Finally, the local spirituality is reflected in the sanctuaries of the Madonna dell’Acero and the Madonna del Faggio, places of silence and devotion nestled in the green mountainside.
